We all stare in envy as those too good to be true contestants in beauty pageants stand before us with their perfect figures and flawless skin. Their perfect white teeth and their freeze-less locks taunts our less than perfect selves. What we do not know is that there is a secret to this. Those so called beauty queens resort to beauty cheating. For instance, for a perfect bikini bodies, some of them resort to using masking tape to hide their ugly flabs. For supposed flawless skin, there are foundations and mineral make up that almost look invisible to the distant and untrained eye. For white teeth, there are bleaching ready at the counter as for perfect hair, there are extensions. All that is really needed is the budget and the know-where of the secret gadgets to a perfect you.

Everybody knows that you are the way you dress. Dressing-up with clothes that do not highlight your best sides or assets are useless thus a turn off making you the subject of many a fashion critics. Celebrities who maintain comfortable yet respectable looking clothes however normal they may look give a sense of consciousness of the world around them. On the mall shopping, having dinner with family or just about anywhere you may be, dress up in a way that represents you as the true you and not as what the media sees you. And one more thing, even celebs have their dirty little secrets like they have two week hairs under their arms. Under the spotlight or on the shoot of a feature film leaves not much time for hygiene down under the arms.

As it turns out, Geisha or the ultimate entertainers of Japan were truly trendsetters in the arena of beauty not only for their exceptional skills at the Japanese performing arts (they’re not PROSTITUTES). They have been using all-natural make-up for centuries which was taken out of style as Western style lipstick and other beauty products began to flood the market. A Japanese cosmetics firm named Isehan-Honten is ensuing the revival of the all natural make-up that was part of Japanese culture for millennia by releasing the world’s most expensive lipstick. Beni is extracted from orange-petaled safflower which has the peculiar habit of having its most color before the sun rises (so they are picked before the sun rises) in July at Japan’s Yamagata Mountains. They are soaked, steamed to make a compound that turns red when water is applied. Richness of the color can be changed with the amount of water that is applied, ranging from pale pink to rich ruby red. The lipstick costs around 70,000 to 300,000 Japanese Yen which translates to around 335 to almost 1,500 British Pounds!

Beach season again and we’ve all said it again and again, take care of your skin so you don’t get sunburned and look older. Many still ignore the aging effects of the harmful UV rays the sun showers down on the earth which does us some good but too much is known to cause skin cancer plus a myriad of other skin problems. Arm yourself with sunscreen for your body, face and lip balm for your lips to avoid those ugly age lines that once you get them don’t go away so easily. Encourage kids to do the same so they lower their risk of getting skin cancer in later life. Chances of getting it increase if you have had any serious sunburn on your skin when you were a little younger. So take care under the sun.

There are a lot of beauty myths around which makes attaining perfect beauty a little harder, in this post we will tackle some of them in hopes of ending the fears people have about their bodies and maintaining that youthful glow. Let’s begin with hair, that all crowning glory of your physiology, there are myths that say you must not pluck hair or ten would grow in it’s place, that is very much false for there is no way that ten hairs would grow from just one single follicle. But do stay away from that gray hair for if you do pluck it, the one that grown in it’s place would lie flat giving the impression of thinning hair. A better option would be to color it and leave it be. What ever your ethnic background, we will all loose hair as we age and that has been the focus of many studies from the hair transplantation business. Better delay or prevent loss that have to add more to get more.
