Youthful skin – Really

Posted by Avatar on Aug 10 2010 | Basics, Techniques

youthskin.jpgMoisturizers can be the best solution to preventing aged skin. Many fail to realize that the face, like most parts of the body needs the best protection from pollution, irritants and of course the sun’s harmful rays. Try to get at a regimen that would not only work for you but can be used frequently enough without worrying about damaging your skin. When you get home, clean off all your make-up as much as possible. Cleansers will work as long as they are not too harsh that they strip away the natural lipid protection of your skin that makes it look young. Lipids are actually the natural oil barrier your skin should love rather than hate. Not all oil on your face is bad and stripping away too much can leave it drier as sand on the beach on a hot sunny day.

Beni – Japanese Geisha Lipstick

Posted by Avatar on Nov 21 2009 | History, Techniques

beni.jpgAs it turns out, Geisha or the ultimate entertainers of Japan were truly trendsetters in the arena of beauty not only for their exceptional skills at the Japanese performing arts (they’re not PROSTITUTES). They have been using all-natural make-up for centuries which was taken out of style as Western style lipstick and other beauty products began to flood the market. A Japanese cosmetics firm named Isehan-Honten is ensuing the revival of the all natural make-up that was part of Japanese culture for millennia by releasing the world’s most expensive lipstick. Beni is extracted from orange-petaled safflower which has the peculiar habit of having its most color before the sun rises (so they are picked before the sun rises) in July at Japan’s Yamagata Mountains. They are soaked, steamed to make a compound that turns red when water is applied. Richness of the color can be changed with the amount of water that is applied, ranging from pale pink to rich ruby red. The lipstick costs around 70,000 to 300,000 Japanese Yen which translates to around 335 to almost 1,500 British Pounds!

Stem Cells, making old skin new again

Posted by Avatar on Aug 17 2009 | Basics, Real-life, Techniques, Tools

amatokin.jpgYou’ve heard of them and they’ve been debated on for years, stem cells or the body’s super cells that have the ability to turn into just about any type pf cell inside the human body with a few hormones and genes thrown into the mix to make it all work out. Many say the beauty crèmes you get off the shelf for a dollar and the way pricy stuff you get form stores have just the same effects and ingredients, wrong! Well for this one product that is, Amatokin(R) which was developed in a high security lab surrounded by guards that are armed to the teeth with sub-machine guns in some small corner of Russia where they were working on some product to allow the healing and renewal of skin for burn victims (most beauty products have roots in the drive to discover and develop products for burn victims if you’d like to know) when they came upon polypeptide#153 which has rejuvenation effects for skin and promised to be a revolution in the cosmetics industry. Most anti-ageing compounds and products come from research in genetics and stem cells which has benefited millions of women world wide. The research is top secret and you would know why, who doesn’t want ageless skin?

Beauty Myths – Hair Stuff

Posted by Avatar on Jun 09 2009 | Basics, Real-life, Techniques

hair.jpgThere are a lot of beauty myths around which makes attaining perfect beauty a little harder, in this post we will tackle some of them in hopes of ending the fears people have about their bodies and maintaining that youthful glow. Let’s begin with hair, that all crowning glory of your physiology, there are myths that say you must not pluck hair or ten would grow in it’s place, that is very much false for there is no way that ten hairs would grow from just one single follicle. But do stay away from that gray hair for if you do pluck it, the one that grown in it’s place would lie flat giving the impression of thinning hair. A better option would be to color it and leave it be. What ever your ethnic background, we will all loose hair as we age and that has been the focus of many studies from the hair transplantation business. Better delay or prevent loss that have to add more to get more.

Bone Marrow Stem Cells Offer Skin Regeneration

Posted by Aileen on Apr 12 2009 | Informaiton, Real-life, Techniques

skincareGone are te days of pig skin grafts for people who suffer trauma such as accidents and burns that used to be sure ways for one to get ugly scar tissue for researchers have found that bone marrow stem cells are making the healing process faster and better than traditional skin graft methods. The procedure normally had the person’s own skin stretched onto the gaping skin wounds, cut from other less obvious parts of the body. The new research has pig skin treated with the person’s own skin cells then augmented with bone marrow stem cells allowing faster and better healing. Once the skin has begun to grow, it is then grafted onto the person without the pig skin allowing growth of the natural skin without using the pig skin as a substrate making the grafted skin good as new. Touch – More than a Simple Feeling

Posted by Aileen on Mar 12 2009 | Basics, Informaiton, Real-life, Techniques

massageTouch has long been regarded as the simplest way people share feelings and compassion but the strange thing doctors have been wondering about for a long time is why the specific act seemingly brings about healing. Pain seems to react to touch in a way not yet quite apparent to our researchers and doctors, then they find a special set of nerves that dots our fingers directly linked to the feeling processing center of the brain. The special sense receptors can be compared to having healing touch for one knows that babies calm at the touch of their parents, sick people calm down with a compassionate stroke of the hands and massage calms even the most stressed soul.
